At Contacts in Common, your privacy is our top priority. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data when you use our app.
Information We Collect
-
Contact Matching Data:
- We never upload or store your contact names.
- For matching purposes, we only process hashed versions of emails and phone numbers using SHA-256 encryption.
- These hashed entries are anonymous and cannot be reversed to identify you.
-
Temporary Storage:
- Any hashed entries are stored on our secure Supabase backend for a maximum of 15 minutes.
- After 15 minutes, all entries are automatically deleted.
-
Analytics:
- We collect basic, non-personally identifiable analytics, such as app usage patterns, to improve the app experience.
- No personally identifiable information (PII) is collected in our analytics.
How We Use Information
- To securely identify mutual contacts between users.
- To improve the reliability and functionality of the app through aggregated analytics.
Data Sharing
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties.
- Since we only handle hashed values, there is no way for us—or anyone else—to reconstruct your contact details.
Security
We take security seriously. All data is encrypted during transit and hashed before processing. Temporary storage ensures your information is never permanently retained in our systems.
Your Rights
- You can stop using the app at any time to prevent any further data processing.
- Since we do not store personal information permanently, no deletion requests are required.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect improvements in our app or changes in legal requirements. Updates will be posted in the app and effective immediately upon posting.
